O.K. New Orleans doesn’t have any beaches.
We are sandwiched between a big lake (Pontchartrain) and a big river (Mississippi).
The southern part of the state constitutes the largest estuary in the world. Mostly green-eyed swamp.
But we do have glorious sugar-sanded beaches nearby- starting about an hour to the east in Mississippi, going on through Alabama, and into the panhandle of Florida.
One of my favorites is along the Gulf of Mexico on Perdido Key.
The almost-gone-graduate student-daughter, and I, took a road trip to soak up some sun and sleep covered in sand and starlight.
