Mr. & Mrs. Grey

If you read this blog, then you know all about our newest addition to the family- little Peggy Malone, our wee Irish lass of a cat with three legs.

You also know that our middle grey fuzzy-butt, Earl, is a feline Adonis- revered my his peers and adored by the ladies (He and Peggy are both altered. The feline ladies in the ‘hood’- mostly not).

At first we thought Peggy and Earl were just friendly to each other. Nice.

Then, we thought they were just happy housemates. Great.

Now we’re thinking maybe a wedding has taken place and we weren’t invited.

They do everything together! Every damn thing: eat, groom, walk, play, sleep.

The only time Earl seems to be able to take his eyes off of her is when she uses the ‘facilities’, and even then, he waits patiently outside.

Earl licks her mended place.

She cleans his ears.

He seems lost when he can’t find her in the house.

She allows him to adore her.

He brings her insects, and reptiles, and other gifts from outside, and presents them, all proud of himself, and then stands back and watches her enjoy the catch.

They don’t ‘meow’ at each other, they ‘trill’, and when Earl plays a bit too rough, she growls quietly and gives him a gentle swat. He backs off immediately and changes course, begging for her forgiveness.

She forgives, and the whole cycle starts again…

Why does this sound so damn familiar?

    • A Pleasant House - Yes- they’re still Honeymooners, but in cat years that means only a few more months before they should start throwing pots-n-pans at each other. Then agin, there is the 9 Lives thing….
