* I am conducting a little experiment. On Monday’s I will be posting commentary on a Current Event of my choice by which I will proceed to rip someone a new poop hole. It may be fun. I might be sued. But I will always be entertaining.
So, welcome to…
join the party!
Here in New Orleans, we have, yet again, weathered an ‘event’- Tropical storm Karen.
Was it awful? No.
Was it damaging? Not much.
Will it happen again? You betcha.
Will many of my fellow Americans continue to be angry that a nickel of their current tax liability will be used to rebuild places like here? Yes they will.
Will many people still choose to make their homes in risky areas prone for natural disasters? Yep.
So who’s right?
It’s not an argument with a ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answer that is actionable.
It’s a matter of preference, and risk tolerance, and the ideals that formed this great country- we take care of our own.
So, if you’re one of those people that likes to call me after a storm and say, “You’re Welcome”, I will be be responding with a very polite, “You too’, because if people didn’t live here there would be no New Orleans and you wouldn’t be able to enjoy the oldest, most European city in the United States, smell the jasmine, eat the gumbo, sway to the music, and drink, not BIG Ass Beers, but HUGE Ass Beers (to go).
Because the only Natural Disasters we have on a regular basis, are the tourists that can’t pace themselves.
And they cost…
