Saints & Sinners

Here in New Orleans
   rising from the square,
Towering upwards calling
   calling all to care.

Bell ringing new day
   penitents filing in,
The haze of night last still
   heavy laid with sin.

Cleansing of the dear souls
   praying for new starts,
Bishop lays his hands
   Deep within wet hearts.

Tears stain the hard wood
   dropping like the rain,
All shed their course coats
   lined in silk and pain.

Promises given freely
   resolute to the end,
New beginnings given daily
for flocks are hard to tend.

Rising up to take the host
   open for the fill,
Planning out tonights spells…
    Saints and Sinners still.
