Not all beautiful structures are pristine…  Some are abandoned and old… With steel corsets covering their bodies, holding them together…  Raw but still worthwhile… Even through a journey of rotten timber to walk on- forever it seems… And are still designated National Historic Landmarks, with millions of dollars pouring in to save it, restore it, make […]

  • Amy Flory - My daughter’s preschool does a donation drive for a homeless men’s shelter in November and December. I love that she gets to feel the blessing of giving and that it highlights a somewhat forgotten segment of our community. Thank you for your reminder!ReplyCancel

    • A Pleasant House - THANK YOU! This continues to be a very real problem in our cities. It especially breaks my heart when I see women or women/children. Your daughters preschool is amazing!ReplyCancel

  • William Kendall - Up here we have it as well. I think agencies such as your suggestion are the way to go for donating.ReplyCancel

  • A Pleasant House - The problem is universal. Here, in New Orleans, when the restaurants close, the kitchens hand-out any leftovers, so at least many homeless are eating gourmet. Sounds like a nice thing- but it brings many homeless people TO the city. Double edged sword.ReplyCancel

  • Sue - I am sheltered from this living in the western suburbs of Chicago where I don’t see many Homeless save one last year hanging around he grocery reported to be sleeping in the bushes across the street. Thank you for the reminder during the Holidays and all days of course.ReplyCancel

    • A Pleasant House - Living in a city they are as thick as the bushes you describe. Some have regular spots and times, others are with dogs, some look like the ‘guy next door’. All have a sad story, are usually mentally ill, or some kind of addict. Problem is a buck or two won’t solve a thing but does get them a ‘fix’, but I still have my hand out with a bill from the car window every damn day. Sometimes food. The other day I drove a diabetic man home who had fallen in a pot hole and was confused. Thank God I had a candy bar in the car. What a World.ReplyCancel

  • Barbara Coleman - I love the thought of buying one of those old structures and repurposing it as a home. I like the thought that we all can be repurposed too.ReplyCancel

    • A Pleasant House - Nicely put Barbara. I like that thought too. I think many times buildings are easier accomplished in this purpose then the people we see on the street. So sad.ReplyCancel

* I am conducting a little experiment. On Monday’s I will be posting commentary on a Current Event of my choice by which I will proceed to rip someone a new poop hole. It may be fun. I might be sued. But I will always be entertaining.  So, welcome to… MONDAY MADNESS join the party! As you […]

  • MJ - Agree!ReplyCancel

  • MJ - You right!!!

  • William Kendall - The bikers were in the wrong. Period. And I say that as a biker.

That Alien seems to be humping the bodywork of the motorbike.ReplyCancel

    • A Pleasant House - ANd that one of them video taped it was a ‘gift’! As for the Alien- is that the ugliest thing you’ve ever seen? Yuk.ReplyCancel

  • Linda Roy - It’s disgusting what they did to that driver. And the cop who chimed in…ack…the whole thing turns my stomach. And the bikers posted it on Facebook or something. String ’em up. Tough boys on their $20,000 Harleys picking weekend fights with innocent family men in front of said families. Born To Be Jailed.ReplyCancel

    • A Pleasant House - Born To Be Jailed would be an Easy Rider. (we’re so good with plays on words aren’t we? Talented that’s what I say. Hahhaaaaa)ReplyCancel

  • Sue - Of course, you are right, I agree, they should be sent out to the Hudson in a dingy, good-bye. It makes me leery of bike groups now. That alien bike is giving me nightmares, wherever did you find such a thing?ReplyCancel

    • A Pleasant House - Anything in LARGE groups is a problem for me. Especially motorcycles. As for the Alien bike- ya gotta love the interwebs!ReplyCancel

  • Piper George - That is appalling! I didn’t hear about that before. Thinking of those poor kids in the car seeing their dad assaulted like that, and only one biker was charged!ReplyCancel

    • A Pleasant House - It really left me almost speechless. So far I think the police have identified 6 bikers and they have been charged. I hope the lot of them get caught and rot in prison. Great to see you stop by again Piper!ReplyCancel

  • Mary Johnson - Could not agree more.ReplyCancel

    • A Pleasant House - Preachin’ to the choir am I? Good. Stay in tune (hahhaaaa) Thanks for stopping by Mary- always nice to see you!ReplyCancel

  • Christine Burke - I will be adding “ripping someone a new poop hole” to my vernacular. Thanks for that….ReplyCancel

  • Cathy - Whew! Stear clear of “The PLEASANT House” being…pleasant(?) about Obamacare. Get ready for some snarky comments.

You still make me laugh. Even with the issues of the day.ReplyCancel

  • House Crazy Sarah - gawd that pic is gross!

Hey, all I can say is UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE BABY! (being Canadian, of course I’m going to say that!)ReplyCancel

  • conniemcleod - I work for a hospital and I still don’t understand it.ReplyCancel

  • Kristi Campbell - HAHA (and yeah, that photo is gross). You know, I don’t know much about Obamacare and how it’s really going to affect or not affect my personal and family’s med coverage but I do know that it’s messed up that people like my step daughter’s mother go to the ER for everything and then pay nothing because they spend their money on drugs (true story). Will it fix that? If so, I like it! 😀ReplyCancel

    • A Pleasant House - No. She’ll still go to the emergency room as her primary care facility. And if she doesn’t work, she’ll be comp’d (just like now). If she does work AND files a tax return AND doesn’t purchase the MANDATORY coverage she will be charged. If she does work AND files a tax return and HAS purchased the mandatory coverage she will be charged a nominal fee. If she DOESN’T do any of these things, and her status remains ‘quo’ (the same) then see my first response- she’ll be comp’d. It all depends on people who do not currently have any healthcare coverage PURCHASING the government policy. The purchase price will depend on their annual income, so it’s sort of like an HONOR SYSTEM. Brilliant.ReplyCancel

  • Sue - When they ask me questions I will say I don’t remember and I forget. As for my opinion on this subject, I plead the 5th.ReplyCancel

  • William Kendall - Oh boy… it does sound complicated….ReplyCancel

  • carol cassara - You are RIGHT! 😉 It’s such a complicated issue. We seem to have become a society that believes winning is everything–at any cost. Sigh.ReplyCancel

    • A Pleasant House - It’s a question of ethics. A sport is supposed to foster team spirit and to give us an opportunity to see NATURAL talent- this is just plain CHEATING.ReplyCancel

  • farfromdone.com - My daughter did one season of soft ball when she, was about nine. I can still see the blood thirsty looks in the parents eyes. Shivers….ReplyCancel

    • A Pleasant House - And I didn’t even touch on THAT subject! So many disappointing parts of sports. The list could just go on, and on….ReplyCancel

  • Sue - As far as the Alex Rodriquez story goes, I agree with everything you say in addition to too much adoration for sports. He is no role model for the young other than when the would-be young athlete doesn’t think he measures up, hey, take enhancing drugs like the professionals. If they don’t kick A Rod out, shame on them.ReplyCancel

  • Roshni - It seems like every day another athlete gets exposed for using performance enhancing drugs! 🙁ReplyCancel

  • Linda Roy - I just heard about this on Hardball. WTH? You know…I’m beginning to think that sports figures who are good examples and excellent role models are the minority – the unicorns actually. What complete twat waffles.ReplyCancel

  • William Kendall - Alex Rodriguez is a disgrace to the sport. Self absorbed jackass who doesn’t care what he has to do if it gets him in record books.

    What a wanker.

So you’re the mother of Satan? You actually brought Justin Bieber into the world?ReplyCancel

    • A Pleasant House - If The Beib were MY son- I’d crack him upside the head, or give him The LOOK. My kids’s always hated The Look. What a putz.ReplyCancel

  • jack luis - Thanks for sharing it.I think that you are right.http://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiY41ijpzuIReplyCancel
